Studio Vouw
An Amsterdam-based design studio working at the crossroads of design and technology. Founded in 2017 by Mingus Vogel and Justus Bruns based on the belief that technology is not solely a means of efficiency and productivity, VOUW is a pioneer in slowtech: design that slows people down to bring them together in the real world. The studio believes that while technology can help us gain insights faster, it cannot change what makes us human and happy. Slowtech is about creating technology that emphasizes patience, fosters humanity, and promotes real-world connections.
VOUW is committed to making their work accessible to everyone and, as such, creates also pieces for the public space. Their works have been installed in cities worldwide, including Milan, Beijing, Dubai, Singapore, Taiwan, Qatar and Sydney. All of VOUW's work is imagined, designed, and produced in-house. The studio believes that having control over the whole process is key to creating the best products when working on the limits of design and engineering. VOUW's works have won several awards, such as the Archiproducts Award 2022, LIT Design Awards, and GOOD design award. It also has been recognised as the best social design by Dutch Design Week. Fast Company named their Bloomlight as the best of Urban Design of 2021.
Olivier Teepe
Born in The Netherlands (Nijmegen 1972) Teepe was gifted his first camera before he could walk. After that, his fascination for creation could never be tamed. After achieving his Master of Fine Arts (University of Portsmouth) he dedicated the first part of his life to advertising. His focus radically turned back to art after some life altering events, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms.
Having worked with technology his entire career, Teepe naturally integrated private generative AI into his work at an early stage. As a regular contributor to major AI platforms and renowned academic programs, he is revolutionizing the course of Dutch art, without ever denying his roots and heritage. From the Swiss mountains he now grows his own garden of native species to transform them into inalterable visual essences of nature. Teepe is known for his unique blend of human intuition and photography, creating stunning works that captivate audiences.
His Florilegium serie presents an unparalleled exploration of the wellknown tradition of the Dutch flower painting, transcending the boundaries of time and mediums. Teepe is fascinated with the potential of AI and began at an early stage experimenting with various tools and algorithms, embracing its power in art. Inspired by the tulip mania of the Dutch golden age, Florilegium portrays the lust, the power and the beauty driving our contemporary world, all the while denying the fragility and volatility of it.
Hakim El Amrani
After a successful career as a banker and musician, Hakim El Amrani (born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1981) finally discovered his true calling: enriching the world through nature-inspired design, where space and nature find perfect harmony. As a pioneer in biophilic design, he channels his creativity through Studio NousNous to reshape environments, guided by the principles of nature with the mission of reconnecting people with the natural world.
As an artist and designer, Hakim is a changemaker. Since graduating from the Willem The Kooning Academy of Arts in 2016, he has worked across various scales, creating green, healing, and inclusive spaces, blurring the boundaries between the built environment and the natural world. His approach, rooted in the biophilic methodology, transforms interiors, gardens, parks, museums, religious spaces, and beyond.
For Hakim, it is not about the type of project, whether for a brand, municipality, or international location. His focus is on creating holistic environments that harmoniously reconnect people with their true habitat, whether through direct or abstract experiences of nature. As he puts it: "There is one collective reality we all share on Earth and agree upon, and that is nature."
Hakim’s work goes beyond design. As a TEDx speaker, he shares insights on the transformative power of nature-inspired design, including biophilic design and the influence of natural forms, which he explores through both his art and spatial projects. He highlights the importance of reconnecting people with the natural world, emphasizing how biophilic spaces enhance health, well-being, and our connection to the environment.
